Welcome to Switzerland! Upon arrival at Zurich Airport, you’ll be greeted by MyMountains Guide, who will answer any last-minute questions and ensure you’re ready to begin your self-guided hiking adventure.

Your 8-day Swiss Travel Pass (2nd Class) gives you unlimited travel on Switzerland’s extensive rail, bus and boat network, making it easy to explore the country’s breathtaking landscapes throughout your journey.

After saying goodbye to the guide, board a comfortable train from Zurich Airport and enjoy your first taste of Switzerland as you travel through picturesque countryside toward the Bernese Oberland. In about two hours, you’ll arrive in the vibrant resort town of Interlaken, beautifully situated between the turquoise waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and surrounded by the iconic peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

After checking into your hotel, spend the remainder of the day exploring Interlaken at your own pace. Wander through the charming town center, relax in the Höhematte Park, browse the local shops, or enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants serving traditional Swiss specialties.

Tomorrow, your hiking adventure begins along the spectacular shores of Lake Brienz.

Accommodation: Beausite Interlaken (or comparable lodging).

Interlaken

Nestled on the shores of the turquoise Lake Brienz, the village of Iseltwald is one of Switzerland’s hidden gems. With its traditional wooden chalets, peaceful waterfront, and spectacular mountain backdrop, it is the perfect place to begin today’s adventure.

A scenic boat cruise across Lake Brienz brings you to Iseltwald, where your hike begins. Follow an easy lakeside trail through quiet forests and along crystal-clear waters until you reach the magnificent Giessbach Falls.

Here, dozens of waterfalls tumble over rocky cliffs before flowing into the lake below, creating one of the most beautiful natural settings in the Bernese Oberland.

Continue by boat to the charming village of Brienz, famous for its woodcarving tradition. Spend some free time strolling along the lakeside promenade, enjoying a swim in the emerald waters during summer, or visiting the local animal park before returning to Interlaken by train.

Visa, Maestro, and Mastercard are commonly accepted in Switzerland. American Express is not so popular and many businesses don’t accept it. The country is becoming more and more cashless with contactless and mobile payments (Google and Apple Pay). Still, it’s useful to have some cash on you while travelling. All banks provide currency exchange services at a favorable rate.

Good Fitness Required

This is a hiking tour and some of the trail involve challenging up or downhill stretches.
