You can choose among three fantastic hikes depending on your fitness level and the weather conditions:
- Panorama Hike: A 4-hour journey, covering 13 km/8 miles, with the most spectacular views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks. A moderate challenge with 213 m/700 ft up and 549 m/1,800 ft down.
- Eiger Trail: A 3-4 hour hike that offers dramatic, up-close views of the Eiger. A 6 km/4 miles route, with an elevation change of 671 m/2,200 ft, depending on the direction.
- Glacier Walk: A scenic 3-hour walk, 9 km/6 miles, perfect even in less-than-ideal weather, with an elevation change of 366 m/1,200 ft up and down.

Day's Overview
The Panorama Hike
This is a medium level hike that offers the best views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountain peaks on a 4-hour trail over a distance of 12 km/8 miles with an elevation change of 213 m/700 ft up and 549 m/1800 ft down.
You will start with a scenic 30 minute gondola ride to the First summit at 2158 m/6500 ft and enjoy views over the beautiful Bachalpsee.

Start your hike by walking up to a summit above the tree-line where you are rewarded with magnificent views, seemingly at eye-level, of the famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountain peaks.
You will then continue on a level path until Bachalpsee, a pristine mountain lake. To finish off your Grindelwald guided day hike, you will descend on foot across green pastures, board a local Post Bus for a 30 minute ride back to Grindelwald.
The Eiger Trail
Although this hike is slightly more challenging, it’s still very safe and accessible for people with moderate fitness levels. To start off your day, board the Jungfrau Cogwheel train in Grindelwald that takes you up to the start of the hike, either at 1615 m/4800 ft or 2320 m/7000 ft depending on which direction you decide to hike.
After that you’ll walk at the base of the Eiger and look up to its 1829 m/6,000 ft vertical wall, one of the world’s toughest mountains to climb. It takes 3-4 hours total hiking time over a 6 km/4 mile distance, and depending on which way you do this hike, it’s either 671 m/2200 ft up or 671 m/2200 ft down.
The Glacier Walk
The Glacier Walk is very scenic even when the weather is not ideal. It takes about 3 hours total hiking time over a distance of 6 miles with an elevation change of 366 m/1200 ft up and 366 m/1200 ft down.
Way back in 1751 a traveler, Johann Altman, wrote: “As soon as you entered the village of Grindelwald you encountered two large glaciers”. Sadly today these glaciers have receded back into the mountain peaks. However on this hike up the Glacier gorge, you will see where the glacier begins and be awestruck by its beauty. And even if the rest of the Jungfrau region is overcast, you will still see jagged alpine slopes and continue to experience the pristine Jungfrau region landscapes.
Meet up with your guide and then take a 10 minute cable car ride to the start of the trail at 1391 m/4200 ft. Follow a signposted trail on narrow stone paths to an Alpine restaurant at 1772 m/5400 ft with awesome views of the Eiger glacier.
To finish off your Grindelwald Guided Day Hike, descend back to the village with the cable car.
