Welcome to the French Alps! Upon arrival at Geneva Airport, you will be welcomed with a Meet & Greet with MyMountains Guide before making your own way to the charming mountain town of Chamonix, nestled beneath Western Europe’s highest peak, Mont Blanc. After checking into your hotel, take the rest of the day to relax, explore the lively alpine streets, or enjoy one of the many cafés and restaurants before your hiking adventure begins.

Chamonix village

Begin your adventure with a short scenic train ride through the Chamonix Valley to Montroc, where your first hike starts.
Today’s trail crosses from France into Switzerland, winding through peaceful alpine forests, flower-filled meadows, and panoramic mountain landscapes before descending into the picturesque village of Trient, famous for its distinctive pink church. Continue by public transport through the spectacular Trient Valley to the historic town of Martigny, surrounded by vineyards and dramatic peaks.

Martigny valley

Today’s hike is one of the highlights of the legendary Walker’s Haute Route. Choose between two spectacular trails: the classic Via Bovine, climbing through alpine pastures and historic shepherd trails, or the more demanding route over Fenêtre d’Arpette, offering dramatic high-mountain scenery.
Both routes lead to the idyllic lakeside village of Champex-Lac, often called the “Little Canada of Switzerland.”

  • Elevation Gain: 1,730 m (5,675 ft)

Champex-Lac

Enjoy a leisurely descent from the peaceful lakeside village of Champex-Lac through forests, meadows, and traditional Swiss villages to Sembrancher. This shorter hike offers the perfect opportunity to recover while soaking in the beautiful scenery of the Valais region.

From Sembrancher, continue your journey aboard Switzerland’s renowned rail network through Martigny and Sion, before traveling by bus into the picturesque Val d’Hérens.

Your destination is the charming mountain village of Les Haudères, where you’ll check into your comfortable spa hotel for a relaxing two-night stay.

Relaxing on the grass

Today’s spectacular hike is another highlight of the tour. Starting in the traditional village of La Sage, climb over the scenic Col de Torrent, one of the finest mountain passes in the Valais Alps.
From the pass, descend to the breathtaking turquoise waters of Lac de Moiry, one of Switzerland’s most beautiful alpine lakes, before continuing to the postcard-perfect village of Grimentz.

Today, return to the magnificent Lac de Moiry for a scenic loop hike around its striking turquoise waters.
Surrounded by towering peaks and the impressive Moiry Glacier, today’s hike offers unforgettable alpine panoramas and a chance to experience one of Switzerland’s most spectacular mountain landscapes from every angle.

Lac de Moiry

Your adventure continues along one of the most scenic sections of the Val d’Anniviers, connecting two of Switzerland’s most beautiful mountain villages. Leaving the historic streets of Grimentz, you’ll climb through fragrant larch forests, flower-filled alpine meadows, and peaceful mountain pastures before reaching a spectacular balcony trail high above the valley.

As you traverse the mountainside, enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding peaks, including several of the Alps’ majestic 4,000-meter summits. The trail combines breathtaking scenery with authentic Alpine landscapes before arriving in Chandolin, one of Europe’s highest permanently inhabited villages, where traditional wooden chalets and spectacular mountain vistas create the perfect setting for the evening.

Today’s route follows spectacular panoramic trails high above the Rhône Valley. Hike through peaceful alpine landscapes, fragrant larch forests, and traditional mountain pastures before descending into the quiet village of Oberems, where authentic Swiss mountain life has changed little over the centuries.

After a short bus ride, begin one of the signature hikes of the tour. The trail climbs to the spectacular Augstbord Pass, where breathtaking views stretch across countless alpine peaks and glaciers.
Descend to the secluded mountain hamlet of Jungen, perched high above the Matter Valley, before enjoying a scenic cable car ride to St. Niklaus and continuing to the charming village of Grächen, where a relaxing spa hotel awaits.

Travel to the village of Randa for a spectacular loop hike featuring one of Switzerland’s most impressive engineering marvels—the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge, the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the Alps.
After crossing high above the valley floor with unforgettable views of the surrounding mountains, continue by train to the world-famous, car-free village of Zermatt, nestled beneath the iconic Matterhorn.

Whether you hike the famous Five Lakes Trail, enjoy the panoramic route from Gornergrat, or explore the scenic trails around Schwarzsee, today is all about experiencing the incredible beauty of the Zermatt region at your own pace.

The hiking distances, elevation profiles, and estimated walking times provided are intended as a guide. Actual measurements may vary depending on the GPS device or app used, your chosen route, hiking pace, and current trail conditions.

Visa, Maestro, and Mastercard are commonly accepted in Switzerland. American Express is not so popular and many businesses don’t accept it. The country is becoming more and more cashless with contactless and mobile payments (Google and Apple Pay). Still, it’s useful to have some cash on you while travelling. All banks provide currency exchange services at a favorable rate.

Good Fitness Required

This is a hiking tour and while most of the trail do not involve any challenging up or downhill stretches, you require good physical health, endurance, sense of balance and sure-footedness. 

Many paths are uneven and rocky, sometimes very narrow with steep hills on both sides. Previous experience in mountain hiking is advised. Make sure you bring good gear: sturdy hiking boots to protect your ankles, clothes made of breathable materials, a hat, a good backpack, sunblock and water bottle.
