Welcome to the Swiss Alps! Upon arrival at Geneva Airport, travel by Switzerland’s renowned rail network through the scenic Rhône Valley to the award-winning alpine village of Grimentz, famous for its centuries-old wooden chalets, colorful geraniums, and rich mountain traditions.
Take the rest of the day to settle in, stroll through one of Switzerland’s most beautiful villages, and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Your hiking journey begins with one of the most scenic traverses in the Val d’Anniviers. Climb steadily above Grimentz through alpine meadows and forests before reaching panoramic trails with sweeping views of some of Switzerland’s highest 4,000-meter peaks.
Finish the day in the picturesque mountain village of Chandolin, one of the highest permanently inhabited villages in Europe.

Today’s route follows spectacular panoramic trails high above the Rhône Valley. Hike through peaceful alpine landscapes, fragrant larch forests, and traditional mountain pastures before descending into the quiet village of Oberems, where authentic Swiss mountain life has changed little over the centuries.

After a short bus ride, begin one of the signature hikes of the tour. The trail climbs to the spectacular Augstbord Pass, where breathtaking views stretch across countless alpine peaks and glaciers.
Descend to the secluded mountain hamlet of Jungen, perched high above the Matter Valley, before enjoying a scenic cable car ride to St. Niklaus and continuing to the charming village of Grächen, where a relaxing spa hotel awaits.

The hiking distances, elevation profiles, and estimated walking times provided are intended as a guide. Actual measurements may vary depending on the GPS device or app used, your chosen route, hiking pace, and current trail conditions.
Visa, Maestro, and Mastercard are commonly accepted in Switzerland. American Express is not so popular and many businesses don’t accept it. The country is becoming more and more cashless with contactless and mobile payments (Google and Apple Pay). Still, it’s useful to have some cash on you while travelling. All banks provide currency exchange services at a favorable rate.
Good Fitness Required
This is a hiking tour and while most of the trail do not involve any challenging up or downhill stretches, you require good physical health, endurance, sense of balance and sure-footedness.
Many paths are uneven and rocky, sometimes very narrow with steep hills on both sides. Previous experience in mountain hiking is advised. Make sure you bring good gear: sturdy hiking boots to protect your ankles, clothes made of breathable materials, a hat, a good backpack, sunblock and water bottle.
